Hi --

I have a network with 14 computers all running Windows XP SP2. I just
installed the AntiSpyware software, updated it and ran scans on the 14
computers. On two of the 14 the Spyware software found and removed spyware.
On those two computers I can no longer run Windows Update.

The Windows Update log entries are below for each computer:

COMPUTER 1
2005-02-06 16:25:12-0500 3132 250 Trying to make out of proc datastore
active
2005-02-06 16:25:12-0500 3132 250 Out of proc datastore is now active
2005-02-06 16:25:12-0500 724 e84 WU client succeeds
CClientCallRecorder::EnumerateService
2005-02-06 16:25:14-0500 724 90 WU client succeeds
CClientCallRecorder::EnumerateService

COMPUTER 2
2005-02-06 16:55:54-0500 3156 bcc Trying to make out of proc datastore
active
2005-02-06 16:55:55-0500 3156 bcc Out of proc datastore is now active
2005-02-06 16:55:55-0500 724 3dc WU client succeeds
CClientCallRecorder::EnumerateService
2005-02-06 16:55:56-0500 724 df0 WU client succeeds
CClientCallRecorder::EnumerateService

Same log file events on both PC's except the #'s are a little different

What happens is the IE window launches and jumps through a couple of URLs
and then just closes.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rich

Ok.. I am having more issues..

I have several users who can not access thier Hotmail accounts -- IE crashes
during the process of loading their Hotmail in boxes.

Hi

Please try this if you have SP2 for WinXP installed:

Start/Run --> cmd.exe

and then, in the command prompt that opened up, type:

netsh.exe winsock reset

and hit Enter. Follow prompts and reboot.

Okay, I tried this but I am still having the same issues..

I also tried running the

sfc /scannow

command but the computer is prompting me to insert my Windows XP
Service Pack 2 CD.. The problem is I install Windows XP SP1 from a CD
and then installed SP2 from a network share. I am not given the option
to locate the files and so I can't finish the update. Is there anyway
to specify the source for the files SFC is looking for?

Thanks,

Rich
