Windows Update wrong language (German)

went to Windows Update to install SP2 for WinXP only to get the German
language website.
URL appears correct, same as I get on my desktop ...

The top and left frames are in English, but the center and right frames are
in German. Doesn't seem to affect any site except Windows Update,
microsoft.com, google.com, mcaffee.com are all in English. Any advice ???
