My windows icon tell me it can't look for updates. I then go to windows
updater and it tells me that I have 17 updates to install. I try to install
them but it will just sit there for hours and never intall them. It does not
give a security code and not having the updates has put my computer in a lot
of danger I think I may have a hacker now.

Ignore the title and try Method 1, if not then try Method 2 -

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

Harry, you have your own posting - please see the response to that.

It's not polite to hijack another's post and it appears your problem isn't
even related.

Thank you.
