Ellen,
There is a solution and as of last night, it has successfully fixed 3
machines. There has been some threads in here referring to OLEfix (which
contains OLE_fix.reg). It appears that something has removed some settings in
the registry. Thanks to the MVP who has been posting this information like
crazy.
The *.reg file looks like this:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
@="ClassMoniker"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\InprocServer32]
@="ole32.dll"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProgID]
@="clsid"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\CLSID]
@="{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
The question was asked if this 'fix' re-opens any security threats and the
response was 'No'. I can't guarantee that statement is true...I ran across a
Microsoft bulletin that stated that Monikers where being disabled in IE and
this registery entry referes to the "ClassMoniker"...could just be something
totally different.
Good luk:
