windows updates and sp 2

on april 12th i installed the updates and at the time i had sp2 installed.
the updates crashed the computer and the internet would not work at all. in
the mean time this computer has a wireless router hooked up to it so my
desktop pc in my room can have the internet. my wireless connection in my
room was working, but i didn't realize until it was too late that bother
computers were down. i called my isp and they told me to reformat, which i
did and well i had the internet for a few seconds and then it completely
died. so i once again called my isp and they walked me through to get the
internet working on at least this computer. i don't want to install the
updates that were from april 12th because i don't want to go through the same
thing, but i want sp2. is there any possible way to do this without having
the updates crash the internet. i mean the internet isn't fully working
because when i try to log into some sites it won't let me at all. can someone
please help me so i can figure out how to get the websites to work and/or get
sp2 without the internet crashing. thanks. (that might not have been
explained very well.)

I did the April 9 updates on my wife's XP Home computer and it would not
boot into Windows after the system restart. I re-installed over the existing
installation and re-installed all updates. This time, it functioned normally
after the restart and is still functioning normally and is completely
updated with all patches and SP's.

i had to reformat and when it install updates it makes me install at least 25
of them and then i reboot and then i can install sp2 or review other
available updates and it makes me install at least 20 some more updates. i'm
not sure if it will do the same thing over so i am hesitating to reinstall
all of the updates.

I know, there is no assurance that the same thing won't happen again. I'm
just saying it worked for me.
