windows updates changes de icon size

I have windows vista and every time the windows updates it changes icon size
configuration and there is no way to resize ? except I have to restore it to
prior set times, meaning I have to set it up before this updates took place..
and id this updates are screwing my PC .. how should I stop their automatic
updates
