Windows updates download but do not install? computer recently fi

Hi, My dads Pc does not appear to be able to install updates anymore.

He recntly got infected with windowsxp2008 antivirus malware

we have got the computer functional again but can not get the upodates to
install, hes on genuine XP home operating software,key on sticker on back of
pc at time of purchase.

Problem has occured after the infection was sorted, please advise.

MadWayne,

Amongst other 'goodies', "Antivirus 2008" prevents the Automatic Update
service from running. Before repairing the AU service, you first need to
ensure that there are no hidden 'unwanted guests' still residing on the
system.
Suggest you vist a reputable anti-malware forum to be as sure as you
can, that no such 'guests' are still hanging around:
