Hello,

I would like to know if anyone knows if it is possible to run the windows
updates downloaded via
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/s...displaylang=en silently. I
would like to be able to run it through the command line to auto accept the
license agreement and to not reboot when done. I realize this might not be
possible, but I thought the windows update webpage probably used the same
files for updating a computer so I thought there might be away to do what I
want via command line and adding switches or something like that.

Thank you

Windows version(s)?

Many updates require rebooting to install properly.

How to configure and use Automatic Updates in Windows XP:

This doesn't answer the question I asked. I want to download one of the
update files. Then I want to run the update from command line with some sort
of switch that will accept/ignore the license agreement so I don't need to
click it each time. Furthermore, if I would like to suppress the reboot from
being asked.

And it's the "Wanting to suppress the reboot" that prompts the statement:
"Many updates require rebooting to install properly."

Or.... put simpler... it's not really an option. You might as well not install
the update at all if you're not going to reboot, because the actual
/installation/ of the update does not occur until the system starts up.

Hi,

The security bulletin that comes with each security update provides
both download links to the update, as well as documentation on what
command line switches to use to do an unattended installation (and
suppress reboot).

See the "Security Update Information" section here for an example:
