Windows Updates Fail In W2K

I have 10 updates for my W2K which continually fail. I have tried downloading
the updates and running them from the WU folder but I get the message: :You
do not have permission to update Windows 2000. See your system adminsitrator"

I get this message even when I am logged in as the administartor. I have SP4
loaded and some updates do take. The ones I cannot update are a Cummaltive
Update for IE 6 SP1, seven security updates and an update for Windows Media
player.

Any Suggestions?

Create a user with "administartor" rights

you might also want to try to allow all programs to update
your system registry

-go to "start"
-"Run"
-type "regedt32" (no quotes)


-Right click over HKEY
-"permissions"
-Alow all in list

Do this for all "HKEY" in the registy

Win2000 does not allow most programs to up date registry.
This can be a problem when CFG'ing programs and expecting
the CFG to keep...

dll or something? If so, how is that done?

Notreally that stupid as I have had to ask it myself. But, yes, I did.
