Are Windows Updates interfering with my Security Settings?

I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed and can see the
content of most sites that need this plug-in. However, with some of them,
sites like Genes Reconnected for instance, where you can build and view your
family tree, in order to view your whole tree, you need this plug-in. I keep
getting a message telling me that I do not have the plug-in or it is
disabled. I tried re-installing the plug-in (over the top of the existing
one) from the site (from a link on the GsCd site) but this did not work. Only
when I completely uninstalled the existing plug-in and installed it fresh
again, could I get it to work on the Gnes Cntcd site. This has happened to me
before with a few private web sites where I have had to completely uninstall
the existing Flash Player and re-install it from scrath before I could view
the site.
Now I am wondering if by any chance some of the the Windows Security Updates
are disabling this plug-in with certain sites. I am always finding that after
certain Windows Updates, this kind of thing is happening and I have to find
out which is the offender and uninstall it! This of course results in my
getting continually nagged about leaving my computer at risk whenever I go to
Windows Update!
