Windows Updates Missing

I have recently come across an issue with a new install of Windows Vista
Ultimate 32-bit, where NO updates (optional, or otherwise are shown). If i
change the settings to not 'Use Microsoft Update' and re-scan Windows Update
shows 15 optional updates. Re-enabling updates for other products from
Microsoft Update again does not show any updates.

I have two other installations of Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit with no
issues.

Please advise, many thanks in anticipation.

C:\windows\windowsupdate.log

C:\users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdat e.log
Please substitute <user name> with your windows user account name.

Many thanks for the reply.

I emptied the contents of the windowsupdate.log file under my userid and
after running the update again (with updates for other products enabled)
produces no log entries.
