When I try to install Vista updates KB935280, KB935807, KB936357, KB933928 &
KB 905866 the update fails every time. I get 3 errors 80070002, 800B0100 &
8007371B. I have tried stopping the Update service and removing the files in
Software Distribution/Datastore & Download, but the updates still fail.

Mike, I have the same problem...almost. I installed them one at a time and
they all succeeded but KB935807 . I have e-mailed Microsoft and am waiting
a reply. I will post here if what they tell me works.

KB935807 is buggy.
Turn auto-updating off and if you must choose to select updates deselect it.

I've been going back and forth with MS support on this and everything has
failed.
Like so many of my friends we have simply turned updating completely off.

Having the same problem with KB935280 & KB933928 would be grateful for your
help if the solution from Microsoft works

This is what worked for me. Install each one at a time. Those that still
fail, download separately, search on the KB not thru windows update. Install
one, reboot and repeat as often as needed. Windows update will likely still
want you to install them even if succeeded. Right click and hide the update
if it has already succeeced.

I tried installing 8 updates this morning, and 3 failed with the error code:

80070002

so I followed the following steps:
To stop the Windows Update service
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control
Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative
Tools.

2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password
or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. Right-click the Windows Update service, and then click Stop.

To delete temporary update files
1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Computer.

2. Double-click the local hard disk where Windows is installed, typically
drive C.

3. Double-click the Windows folder, and then double-click the
SoftwareDistribution folder.

4. Double-click the DataStore folder to open it, and then delete all files
and folders in the folder. If you are prompted for an administrator password
or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

5. Click the Back button. In the SoftwareDistribution folder, double-click
the Download folder to open it, and then delete all files in the folder. If
you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the
password or provide confirmation.

To restart the Windows Update service
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control
Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative
Tools.

2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password
or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. Right-click the Windows Update service, and then click Start.

But it still fails. Any ideas folks? I've cleaned the registry, and rebooted
also. No luck.

The updates were:

KB936021
KB933579
KB937143

Jesus! You wrote all that only to tell us that it failed?!!
Anyone get a fix for this or have MS just given up?
I have had all my updates since the middle of July fail.
