Thanks for your help, I carried out the tweak and updates started to download
and be completed, although still slow. This was at about midnight.
I tried again at 9am the next day and was amazed at how quick the downloads
were. I am all up to date now.
I wonder also whether traffic is less on the 3G network first thing in the
morning which allows faster downloads.
