Windows Updates on Server 2003

Help, Windows updates for Server 2003 keeps damaging my kernal !!

Server Spec:
DELL Xeon, 1Gb Ram, Win Server 2003 Std, Exchange 2003 Ent,
Kasperky for Exchange & Workstation, its also DNS & DHCP server.

Everytime i run windows updates, try to install and bang, machine freezes and
when i cold reboot i get :

"ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupt, please re-install"

I've used ASR & other various methods to restore and when i try updates
again, bang - same again.

I now have 20 critical updates sitting but i cant take the chance of another
failure !!

Can anyone help ?!?!?

has anyone had this problem ????
