Windows Updates won't go past 0%

I have windows 98 se in my office (we are a small
networked office, peer to peer). When I click on Windows
Updates, it says searching for updates but stalls at 0%.
What do i do? I have read the troubleshooting info, but
I am lost.(Bear in mind, no one in our office knows much
about computers, including me :-( )
