I am now down by 91 Microsoft updates. The auto update downloads the files then
tells me that they could not be loaded. I have tried to download individual
files and also tried to clear the Windows Update service file folder while
stopping and starting the update service. Nothing seems to work. The only
thing I have changed was a recent repair to my system using the Windows XP
(SP2) software disk.
I'm a bit stumped here?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update,
from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after
you repair a Windows XP installation
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

(Try it even if you did a clean, not repair, installation.)
(Try it even if you performed some sort of restore - not repair install.)
(Try it even if you did an upgrade installation.)

Do all suggested methods.

Dave,
Sorry, I don't have a fix, but I do have some info.: I also can't finish
MSoft updates. It started just after running a system repair on two separate
Dell pcs, so it looks like the repair bonked something, maybe. Tried turning
off auto-updates and running updates manually, but no dice. Dell tech chat
said to reformat and reinstall. Looking around for help...

Same answer as the original thread, given many times in these and other
forums and easily found with a Google search or a search on the Microsoft
web page...
