windows updaye

i just reformatted my computer and installed windows xp professional. i
updated all the drivers on my hardware and now am trying to update windows.

after i search for available updates it says there are 16 critical updates
available but when i try to install them i get a message that says "updates
were unable to install successfully," then lists all 16 of the updates....


why won't they install?

Try installing just the most recent service pack first (that
would be SP2), then run Windows update again.
