Windows Validation Error

It gives this message every time I am trying to download an update. My
windows vista came with my computer. If I try to validate second time
around, it works but It does not take me to download page. Please help.

Unknown error encountered during Windows validation. The validation service
is unable to determine whether your copy of Windows is genuine. Please
validate again. If additional attempts result in validation errors you may
want to try again later.

"Start Diagnostics".
