Windows Virtual PC and Hardware Virtualization

I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 and run Windows Virtual PC. I don't
have hardware virtualization on my Intel CPU. I don't care about Windows XP
Mode.

I am using Vista and Virtual PC 2007 and that works pretty well for me now
on this hardware. Has something changed that requires the hardware
virtualization?

Can I use Win 7 with Virtual PC (without Windows XP mode) if I do not have
Intel Virtualization Technology in my CPU?

Yes, VPC 2007 R1 runs quite nicely on Windows7. It is not officially
supported . It will not install if you have the new Win 7 version of VPC
already installed.

You can use VPC 2007, but not Windows VPC (the new version of VPC for
Windows 7).
Windows VPC requires hardware virtualization, VPC2007 does not.
VPC2007 will run under Windows. 7

Thanks for the quick replies. I use virtual machines for more most of my
work. I think I will stay on Vista with VPC 2007 SP1 since that is
supported, unless others post there is no risk. My understanding is VPC 2007
SP1 is not supported on Windows 7. My PC is only a few months old, it is a
shame I got the wrong CPU! Hopefully others will benefit from this post.

It will DEFINITELY work, but I suggest that you use something like..
Vmware player or vmware workstation and just make sure that you hav
enough ram. Vmware player is free, workstation you can find with crack
on a torrent website

I have to say that making the Win7 version of VPC depend on hardware
virtualization, and not supporting VPC 2007 or Virtual Server 2005 on Windows 7
are very grave errors on Microsoft's part.

It's just going to drive a lot of us to VMWare or other virtualization solutions.
