Windows Vista strikes again? Whenever I try to open my SQL Server 2005
Developer Edition I get and error advising the I do not have access rights
to my computer to write to the registry. I am an administrator on the
computer. The error ,essage says it cannot find the proper type library. I
have also been denied access to folders in my documents directory. Any
ideas on this? Also how do I log in as Administrator? I still have the
password for this account but it did not open as an options when I inserted
the Windows Vista disk and booted from it.

Thanks,

Bob

Right-click on SQL Server Management Studio. Choose "run as Administrator"
from the context menu.

In start/help search for UAC, which will direct you to the appropriate
administrative function. Difficult to find otherwise.

Click on the thing that turns the UAC off. Restart the computer and have a
few beers or coffees while you're waiting.

Go into explorer/program files (which will have some kind of stupid alias
like Programmes if your system isn't English). Share the folder at the root
of the program files that are causing the trouble.

Turn the UAC off. Restart the computer and have a few more beers or coffees
while you're waiting.

I suppose you could install the program elsewhere than in Program Files, but
don't know what the risks would be.

Regards
