I am looking for something that can separate my desktop into virtual
desktops, I have seen third-party apps that do this but apparently there is
a Windows XP powertoy that does the job. I cannot find the same thing for
Vista on the Microsoft website.

Viva la Vista,
John.

Hi John,

Microsoft did not release any powertoys for Vista as they did for XP. That
utility was one of them, but was not updated to handle the aero theme (I
think you can use it if you run classic mode). You'd need to use a third
party program. I don't have any recommendations.

Being a fan of multiple virtual desktops, I've tried all the Vista
compatible ones I can find and every one of them is buggy or flakey in some
way, apart from one:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../cc817881.aspx

As a general rule, anything by Mark Russinovich is good. This one has some
limitations, but it is totally reliable and bug free, as far as I can tell.
It's the only one I would consider using (and do use all the time).

I have not tried it, but I remember a few people that have had some problems
on the Sysinternals forums:

Another alternative would be Vista & XP Virtual Desktops, which is what I
use:

You're welcome. Vista & XP Virtual Desktops actually has a few bugs, and is
still in beta, but it is well featured.
