I don't know what you mean. NOTHING "happens" to them unless you do
something to them. You can copy them to any computer you choose from the
flash drive.

Yes if you've installed Word

You won't need to purchase anything - Word will install and run on Vista
just fine.

If you have that on your machine it will be a TRIAL version. You have
two options. Run with the trial to see how you like it and if you do,
purchase a licence. Office 2007 will open your 2002 documents just fine.
Or, if you don't want to do that, UNINSTALL the trial version before
installing Word 2002

Dell "techies" are not known for their knowledge outside of their
scripts (that goes for most Vendor "helpdesks" BTW) and MS want to sell
