Ok, heres the skinny... I decided to move to Vista 32-bit Busines
(despite my conscience and intelligent notions in my head...) becaus
my work is going to be after SP1 is released, provided Vista is stable
I put it on my desktop at work, not a single problem, and quite frankl
I am enjoying it. I decided to put it on at home... big mistake.

The following is a true re-enactment, some violence, coarse languag
and suggested scenes shall follow. Viewer discretion is advised:

*beep*bop*beep*bop* (bonus points if you know the TV series haha)...

Ok, so first install, got to the end of the install, BSOD... no
impressed already. Decided "hey, might be a fluke accident"... thus tr
again. Installed no problem on second attempt. Im thinking awesome, it'
working!... thought too soon, not more than 2 minutes into Vista an
explorer has crashed, attempting to restart application, everythin
goes black... thus this follows:

"!@$# 1#$% ^@$% 1#$%$67 !@#$6" *kicks, thrashes, punches etc etc...*

Ok, simmered down, attempt #3, installed, comes up, hey, managed t
install 2 updates, 2 drivers this time... black screen, then blu
screen. Please repeat previous kicking, thrashing, punching etc etc...

Ok, finally, attempt 4, basically repeat of install #3, although I don
even get to the drivers this time... back to XP Pro to make sure it i
functional, sure as hell is, but low and behold Vista decided to blo
away a separate partition that I didn't !#$@$% !$^5!$25 1#$ !%^ touc
and I lost all my music, pictures, movies and personal files... AL
HAIL VISTA, SLAYER OF LIFE!

Ok, my system specs:

- AMD 64 5600+ Dual Core
- ASUS M2NPV-VM MoBo
- nVidia BFG 7900 OC
- 3 GB Corsair memory (2x1gb dual channel, 2x512mb dual channel (sam
speeds))
- m-Audio Revolution 7.1, SoundBlasterLive Digital 5.1 (please not
both have been tried, m-Audio on #3 and SBL on #4)
- Logitech Keyboard and Mouse (G15 and a mouse with a crap load o
buttons)

Hope you enjoyed my rant/story... if anyone can suggest anything,
would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Signed,

Bruised physically, mentally, and egotisticall

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Start with the memory use one stick at
a time. See if you still have a problem.

For starters, it would help if you told us what the stop error codes
are
for your BSOD's. Or, you can email me the last 2 or 3 *.dmp files for
the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and I'll try to dig up something.

I dont have the specific error stop codes, and I know being a tech I
shoudl have written them down... bad me. I am going to try the memory
pull, as well as disabling the onboard HD audio port, pulling the sound
card and see if there is any change. If the problem occurs again, I will
ensure to get the report file, and also write down any and all stop
error codes. I should be able to get a reply set up for you by
Wednesday or Thursday.

Install the 32 bit version of Vista on your 64 bit hardware. 64 bit drivers
are really slow in coming. Most 32 bit drivers are here now, or just around
the corner.

If you did try to install 32 bit Vista I would suggest that you have
hardware incompatibilities or a RAM problem.

Try removing 1 GB of RAM, the install
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

shutdown, reinstall RAM, restart.

Worked for me with 4 GB RAM.

Greetings, fellow Microsoft sufferer.

Well, the first thing that I would do would be to pull out all of the
cards (except the video card) and the 2 gig memory module and
re-install.

Next, pray.

If you do not get the BSOD, use it for a day and see if it remains
stable. If it does, then plug in a card or module one at a time to
see how things work.

Good luck!

You might have the specific stop error code if you check Event
Viewer>Windows Logs>System.

Type eventvwr.msc in run box>Windows Logs on left>System.
