Please help!
New to Business Vista and Vista in General.

Can someone please clarify something that is bugging me!

When a user logs off the pc their log on details still remains and
seems to be locked.

In XP you could overtype the name as Administrator and log them off.
Which was great.

And the log on's would be cleared.

I know we have switch user on Vista, and I have signed on as another
user (admin) then went into task manager and clicked disconnect user and
it works, it kicks off other user account! Which again is ok! Long
winded but ok!

But the very last profile/user log on that was signed on to the pc
still remains on the log on screen and seems to be locked out. This does
not seem to disapear and is a real pain!

I would mind if it wasnt locked, you could just over type the name and
sign in!

And the users are not locking their accounts! They are just logging off
their pc for the day and their account details remain and locked when
they sign on the next day!

Is this just an odd Vista thing that keeps the last user account logged
and locked on! Why? Whats the point?

Is there anyway around it so the log on screens are clear?

Please Help!
Thanks
Kes

Hi kes139,

Vista has completely reworked logon process.
The behavior you describe is known as Fast User Switching. It was available
in XP too, but could have been switched off. In Vista, it is always on.
It seems that your users are not logging off, they are probably clicking the
red button in start menu which is illustrated like the ON/OFF switch. It
does not switch off the computer and does not log off a user. Instead, it
puts computer in standby mode and locks the user session. To properly log
off, users must click the rightmost ">" button on the start menu and click
"Log Off".

Hi Dusko!

Thank you for your reply!
Much Appreciated!

I have looked and found that when you click the rightmost > button the
only things that are listed are sleep and shutdown and there is no log
off listed.

Do you have any idea of how I can get the Log Off back on the start
menu?

Thanks

Kes
