After activating the pre-loaded applications on my new notebook Acer Extensa
4220, it broke down. Error: C:\Windows\system 32\dfrgui.exe, - 1073741502.
I tried to press alt+F10 and F2. Tried to boot it with recovery disc and to
get into bios. With no results. The screen remains grey and dead. Can anyone
tell me whats wrong?? I can't get an answer from Acer Aspire support and
there is no warranty for software-errors.

Sounds like a hardware failure, not software. Click on your country for

"with no result' implies that you cannot access the BIOS settings, which
would certainly be an Acer support problem. If you cannot restore the system
to 'factory defaults", once again, it is in Acer's lap. If you can access
the bios, and can restore, you should restore. It's the only way to get Acer
to help you with what they sold you.

Disconnect the power and take out the battery for 5min, then try agsin. If
you still can't even get a BIOS screen up, take it back as faulty hardware.

Its a notebook, I would not recommend she takes it appart. Warranty would
be voided for sure.

Any beeps? Hear any drive spin up? Lights anywhere? If you leave the CD
tray open and try to start up your computer will the tray close at some
time? Does the green light on your charger glow. What is the condition of
your battery? (push test button on your battery) Any life at all?

Acer support can't help me. I may have to pay Euro 50 and then get it back
un-repaired.

How do you know it was Windows starting up. Did you see a Windows splash
screen or just see other text messages? If Windows is starting up (and
stops) you should have been able to get into BIOS. Keep hitting F2 just
after Power on. You need to get to BIOS to change to "boot from CD/DVD" to
reinstall your system. If you can get to BIOS, then you have little choice
then to bring it back and get it repaired.

In the future stick with Dell.
