Windows Vista Home Basic Updates all fail

I also have another machine with Home premium that also has MCafee installed
with the same firewall configuration. Microsoft has come back indicating it
may be a problem with the level of security installed on the machine but my
machine with home premium has the same exact identical configuration and the
updates install with out a problem. any one have any ideas? Is home basic
flawed?
