We have a new Dell lapton with Windows Vista,
We called Dell and they updated us to the latest Mouse/touchpa
driver,
which did not fix our porblem.

When we move the touchpad pointer over a icon on the desktop one of
things happen, a larger background icon (type thing) appears and if w
move the pointer the icon is dragged to wher ewe move the pointer, o
it automatically starts the application. We have never clicked th
buttons.
We woould like to not have this happen, we would like to double clic
to start the applications and have nothing happen if we leave th
pointer over an icon. Has anyone seen this?

Thanks

Is it possible you are touching the pad to firmly?
Check to see if there are any settings for the touch pad.
If there are no settings or they are OK, it is probable there is
something physically wrong with the touch pad, contact Dell for
possible replacement.

Check the Mouse settings in the control panel.
Often with touch pads, there is a "tap" option. I would presume you're
tapping the pad whilst over objects & icons, which is registering clicks.
You should be able to disable this in the control panel.
