Windows Vista hotfixes -This is not for your system

I've been trying to fix a constant crashing problem with DX10 and Nvidia
cards - the nvlddmkm error and need to install the hotfixes:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938194
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938979

All of which come up as - "this is not for your system" once windows update
starts after download.

I've been careful to install the 32bit Vista version. I've 32-bit Vista Home
Premium.

Any ideas what could be causing it or how I might fix it?

Yes I get the same message. This NVidia thing is driving me nuts. I can't run
my system unless I delete the nvlddmkm.sys file which only leaves me with a
crappy display (but at least with no lock ups or black outs).
I am trying to get the belowmentioned update:-
"The screen may go blank when you try to upgrade the video driver. For more
information, click the following article number to view the article in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base:
932539 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932539/) The screen may go blank
when you try to upgrade the video driver on a Windows Vista-based computer"

Microsoft won't give it to me unless I ring them and pay even though I have
a bona fide installation of Windows Vista Home Premium.

I will try to remain calm. It is not as simple as following a web link I'm
afraid.
As I said when I try to request online all I get is an offer to start phone
support at some fee. No way am I going to do that. I have solved the problem
myself by reading as many forums as I could find. To this date Microsoft has
never solved anything for me. They go through a generic list of what to do in
an e-mail (mostly in very poor English) and keep stating the bleeding obvious.
What worked for me was to disbale the UAC in Vista and then reload the
Nvidia drivers.

Okay, I just tried it and I got to "
Contact Us: Hotfix Request Web Submission Form"

I went as far as filling out the form but didn't submit it.

At what point were you asked to start a phone support at a fee?

Where I got to from the KB article was here:
https://support.microsoft.com/contac....aspx?scid=sw;[LN];1414&from=KBHotfix&WS=hotfix

<To obtain this Hotfix, please submit your request via this form to Microsoft Online
Customer Service and Support - you should expect to receive a download link via email from
Microsoft within 8 business hours.>
Which is email contact.>

If I had submitted the form, I would have received the requested hotfix.

Anyway, somehow you've solved your problem, that's the main thing. Always remain calm.

I probably didn't explain myself enough.
Submitting the request is fine. The answer is

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.

I understand that you would like to obtain hotfix from Microsoft.

Currently the hotfix described in the article 932539 is unavailable.

You will be best assisted by the Microsoft subsidiary that specializes in
your version of Windows Vista Home Premium. You can reach them at 13 20 58
or by visiting:

http://www.microsoft.com/worldwide/phone/contact.aspx?country=Australia"

Requesting anything further from this results in up front fees being
payable. Although I have a bona fide copy of Windows Vista, it is OEM and for
these purposes has expired!! It is in anyone's terms ciustomer service of the
lowest magnitude.

So MS offer a hotfix in a KB article but when you ask for it, it's not available.

Next question for MS, why offer a hotfix that isn't available?

Well it's all back again. Screen going haywire and then blanking out. No
error messages except the BSOD one at the end (nvlddmkm error). I have had to
delete this file and go back to a crappy display again. I really need to at
least try that hotfix. I have put several requests in with the "not
available" response.
Is there somewhere else I can get the fix?

Thanks
