Windows vista key issue please help

i bought a dell laptop and then bought a ultimate edition of vista.
i then upgraded my vista home to vista ultimate.
i used the key to activate the ultimate edition.

few days later i had isses with the keyboard on the laptop.
Dell sent me a new laptop.
then starts the darn process again.
However, i cannot use the same key now b/c it says that the key is already
in use.

what can i do?

Well, yes. It's in use by you, because of your initial Activation.

Just call. You can likely use your old key "after" speaking to the
representative. If they feel you need a new key they will give you one.

The number called is region specific so the number you called may not
be appropriate for someone else.
That is why you select the region and then a number for your area is
displayed.
Most are toll free but some are not.
