Windows Vista Login to Temp

I shut down the computer last night normally and walked away.

This morning it was installing 3 updates and then opened to the login
screen. I logged into my name but the desktop opened to a new installation.
Right clicking on the start menu, explorer brought me to user "TEMP". How do
I get back to my normal user profile. It is there, why would it go to temp
instead of my name?

Try simply rebooting the machine. If that doesn't get you into your own
profile, you'll need to do a System Restore to before the updates were
installed. Then only install the updates one at a time, testing after each.
