windows vista will not allow me to update my computer with the lat

When I try to download Windows Vista updates, it wont let me do it. I have
Windows Vista Home Basic installed on my computer.
Can anyone please help me?

AVG Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before
