Windows Vista is a PIG

I have a Compaq V6402CA laptop with a Celeron 1.6G cpu.

I find Vista is slow. I stopped the following services and it seems
faster...
Application Experience, ReadyBoost, SuperFetch, Windows Search, and Xaudio
Service.

Vista does stupendous file and registry access. I monitored what was changed
when I
installed updates KB941649, KB915597, KB905866, and KB941229.
Vista did the following:
Registry changes...
Keys added - 17950
Keys deleted - 9492
Values added - 73732
Values deleted - 27767
Values changed - 718
Disk/file changes...
Folders added - 134
Folders deleted - 80
Files added - 613
Files deleted - 3150
Files changed - 2133

When I installed Mailwasher on my W2k system, the changes were:
Registry changes...
Keys added - 5
Keys deleted - 2
Values added - 20
Values deleted - 0
Values changed - 7
Disk/file changes...
Folders added - 1
Folders deleted - 0
Files added - 3
Files deleted - 0
Files changed - 8

When I installed Mailwasher on my Vista system, the changes were:

Keys added - 29
Keys deleted - 0
Values added - 238
Values deleted - 0
Values changed - 46
Disk/file changes...
Folders added - 41
Folders deleted - 1
Files added - 500
Files deleted - 415

I guess they call it progress. Vista is such a resource hog. It tries to
be everything to everyone and is failing at that task. I have Vista on a 3
Ghz Pentium machine with 2GB of RAM and it's pretty slow.

Millions and millions of lines of code went into that bloatware and it's
very buggy. Hopefully things will get a bit better when SP1 is released. I
only use Vista on a test machine. For real work, I use XP. Probably will
for another year.

You absolutely do not know what you're talking about. When a install package
is created to install said application on any MS O/S platform, it includes
all information, instructions and commands that are need to install the
applications, such as registry changes, files added, folders added, folders
deleted, etc etc. It is the install package that has the information and is
the one issuing the instructions and commands to install the application and
its software components to the O/S. The O/S is only following the commands
of the install package to install said application so that it works with a
given MS O/S.

How much ram are you running, your computer CPU is OK don't take any
notice of what joel 406 sad. Restore everything, Check for CPU and
Motherboard updates. And Run CCleaner or similar, Post back if problems
persist

I think you should ask mail washer.
However if you install an app and it deletes 415 files and changes 752 files
I expect it has screwed you up.

According to the mailwasher site it doesn't run on Vista so your best bet it
to roll the system back to before you wrecked it and try a different
program.

Mailwasher does run on Vista. I am running Mailwasher on Vista, based on the
information I implemented in the link.
