Windows Vista product key is already being used???

My husband built a computer for a friend and purchased Windows Vista Home
Basic. The computer was working for awhile, but now she tells me that upon
booting up her computer she gets a message that states the "Windows Vista
Product Key is Already Being Used". She is unable to get the computer to
boot up. Any suggestions on what I should have her do?? My husband, who
built it, is currently deployed and can't help.

There should be a telephone number on the screen. Call Microsoft and get to
the bottom of this.

Is possible that your husband might have accidentally reused a license from
an existing installation Vista Home Basic?

Nope, he purchased this copy out right from Fry's electronics (with her
there, her old computer had ME). I don't run Vista.

Best thing to do then is follow HeyBubs suggestions and call the activation
number on the screen.
