Periodically my Windows Vista Home Premium quits and gives me a black screen.
I have to then shut down the computer and restart. Any assistance would be
appreciated.

Restart in Safe Mode and check the Event Viewer to see if there any logged
messages related to hardware failure and report back here.

Try checking your power management settings:

- "Control Panel"->"System and Maintenance"->"Power Options"
- Click on "Change Plan Settings" for your selcted scheme
- Change the "Turn off Display" and "Put the computer to sleep"
settings to "Never"
- You may also want to double-check the settings under "Change
advanced power settings"You may also want to complete a full Window Update, as Microsoft has
released updates that fix some issues with power management.

Note: You never mentioned if your computer is a desktop or laptop.
Incorrectly changing your power management settings could have an
extreme negative impact on battery life.

I have a Toshiba Laptop. I'm not sure where to find the Event Viewer when I
start the computer in Safe Mode.

Andre,

Here are the Error Messages I found that I think have to do with hardware.

1. IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 5,
function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance. Same
error for slot 4 & 6

2. Kernel-WHEA
Machine Check Event reported is a fatal Bus or Interconnect error.
Memory Hierarchy Level: 0

Thanks for any help you can give me.
