Vista ultimate 32bit
Dell E520 3.0 ghz, 2 gig ram.

I've had vista since before Christmas and not had a single problem with it
until I installed SP1.

After installing SP1, it says that hardware had changed on my PC and that I
had to reactivate? I tried the online activation and this failed saying that
I needed to buy a new key.. I then retried the activation through the phone
and this worked.

i've never had any hardware changes and its never prompted my for activation
since installation. maybe one to watch out for guys..

Yes, this is an "expected" behavior if drivers are updated during the
SP1 process.

This is also a "stupid" behavior to treat legal customers in this manner.

You are prompted to activate Windows Vista after you install Windows
Vista Service Pack 1:

I had a simalar issue after applying SP1 last week. One of the options in the
activation screen is to activate by phone. Take this approach and follow the
prompts. It will likely fail when you speak the numbers provided into the
phone system. You will be transferred to a live body. They will be able to
provide you a code that works. Took me less than 10 minutes.

Good luck!
