Should this o/s have P&P?

Been trying to install an Epson One-In-One in my Toshiba P300 flattop but there's no way!!

I've handed the d...d thing the lastest driver directly from Toshiba, opened on a separate CD and it can't find it. This time, however, I opened DETAILS on the error message and the very first item listed was "couldn't find PnP".

Help!
