Asus is *required* to support Vista for what is known as an OEM edition
of Vista during whatever warranty period they offer.
Microsoft offers Home Users no-charge support for issues with Security
Updates.
Check any Security Bulletin or Security related KB article to confirm
this, if you wish. For instance, the first Security update of 2008 shows
this on the Sec Bulletin or KB article pages:
