I keep getting this same error over and over again. It seem to be in some
kinda loop. It downloads but doesn't install itself. I'm also running a
Ultimate, could this be just a n Ultimate error ? Any kind of help would be
highly appreciated

I am having the exact same error code on home premium64, so it is not
isolated to ultimate, also have the same problem with error code 800b0100,
can not seem to solve this problem in spite of much online research. If any
one knows of a solution, I would greatly appreciate the help.

I'm having the same problem on Vista Home Premium. When I check for updates
it says "To check for updates you must first install an update for Windows
Update. Your automatic updating settings will not change." and I click
Install now. Then it comes up with the "Windows could not search for new
updates" Error found: Code C015001A. If I click Try again it starts all
over. It started after I took off Windows Live One Care and installed
Symantec AntiVirus version 10.2.0.276. Anyone know how to fix this yet?

I don't know what happened but somehow mine fixed itself. I went to shut
down last night and I noticed on the start menu that my shutdown button had
the icon of updates to install then shutdown so I gave it a shot and it
finally/automatically updated with "Windows Update Software 7.0.6000.381"
and after that it installed 11 more updates for me and everything seems to be
working fine.

Well, I fixed my problem. This has been frustrating, I'm glad its working
now! In short, here's what I did:

1. Formatted my Windows partition.
2. Reinstalled to this partition.
3. Logged in as a user, and then rebooted several times without doing
anything else, to ensure that all the Windows system and temp files are
created properly (rather than logging into an account and having it created
the user folders/files right then).
4. Right clicked on Windows Update --> Ran as Administrator (even though
my account was already an administrator).

It worked!

I think that perhaps in earlier attempts I had several other processes
running and the computer would lock up, so I would have to do a HARD reboot.
I bet there must be a Windows Update that fixes some driver problem,
instability problem with my installation (which has hence been installed,
naturally).
Doing the HARD reboot would not cleanly unmount the filesystem, and I think
Windows Update must like a clean filesystem (even though chkdsk would never
run upon the next reboot, making me think that all was okay...). Having an
unclean filesystem might cause Windows Update into loop somehow.

Anyway, try the steps above, I bet they will work for you too.
peace,
RF
