Windows Vista - Update hangs - and generally hangs

Can anyone help. I have a brand new Fujitsu Lifebook (E8210) which I have
had for less than a week, it's pre-installed with Vista Business. I can't
stand Vista it keeps crashing - instead of the blue-screen of death I get a
blue-circle of death where the computer freezes and all I can do is turn the
powr off. This happenns regulalry.....

I can;t even install Vista updates, for example on on of the optional Vista
updates (it won't show me the details on the name!), it goes to the same
point and just freezes - if I try and click the Stop Installation icon, I get
the dreaded Blue-Circle of death. I'm hating Vista....can anyone help it's
driving me mad, and Microsoft were typically unhelpful with the service call,
saying go to the PC manufacturer. Help Help Help please .

Same happens to me with Vista on a new Dell Inspiron 6400. It didn't happen
at first but update installation times got longer over about a fortnight and
now they freeze completely. I tried uninstalling programs (including Mcafee)
to see if that was the cause but no. My CPU useage is very high - over 50% at
rest up to 95 to 100% when working

I'm thinking of upgrading back to XP,
