I did not get the chance to try what you had suggested. This is what I did:
I unistalled the KB927978 update from my add/remove programs, removed all the
folders relevant to that update on my C drive. Went to my network and sharing
center and turned off the printer sharing(I was going to allow my son to
share the printer on his computer). Powered off my printer, shut down my
computer and restarted. The update had not popped up all day yesterday and
all of today so far. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it has
worked for me! I have used my printer since and still all in the clear!
