I am also having this problem. I'm running XP Pro SP2, on a dual core
machine with 2gb RAM and gigs of available disk. I wondered if it was
because a service wasn't running, so went through the stopped services
and started them, but that didn't make a difference. However, when I
try to start the windows driver foundation, I get an error 31, a
device attached to the system is not functioning, although as far as I
can tell everything is functioning. So maybe it's this?
