I've never had Norton/Symantec bring my machine out of sleep, so I don't
think that is the issue. Since the OP said this is an older model, could it
be maybe that the DPMS implementation on the monitor may be a little wonky?
Or perhaps the driver? I know that the generic PNP display driver sometimes
has trouble on some monitors, and usually a specific driver, like the one
for my NEC 1970NX, will solve the problem.
