windows wont let me install

can anyone tell me why installer wont let me install anything from my hp it
just keeps sayin that windows may not be installed properly or its running in
safe mode help please dont know what to do

If you have an HP computer with their version of Windows as an OEM install
then you should be asking them for help.

I too have a sever problem, I can not install any programs, it pops up and
tells me to reinstall the windows installer, but even if you have an update
and start to install the update, the installer won't let you....any help or
is there a way around the windows installer to install programs, I am using
Vista OS...any help is appreciated....thanks

This is my report on my sucess....I had to go to "Computer Management" the
"Services and Management", scroll down to Windows Installed and manually turn
the installer off and back on, and re-boot. At that point I was able to
install other programs, the problem then was that the installer popped up on
every window that was opened up.......the installer was trying to finish a
previous attempt of installing a program that was not installed correctly.
After much expermenting with which program was not properly installed I came
to find out that my Microsoft Office 2003 had an update that did not properly
finish installing, I had to uninstall Office 2003 and reinstall......the
installer seems to be working fine, does not pop up annoyingly anymore. So I
did not have to repartition my hard drive and reinstall Vista. Someone had
sugested that I do. Hope any of this info is helpful to others......

I have a dell on which windows installer quit working also. It says
something like "windows installer cannot be accessed." Can anyone out there
help me. I'm running Win XP Pro with tons of Ram and HD space and three
monitors. It will also not let me update to sp2, but that's another matter

SP2 can not be installed without Windows Installer 3.1 being present.
So, open the KB893803v2.log that is located in the WINDOWS directory
[folder] and post it's contents in your reply, please.

IF the error message specifies 'Access Denied' then there's a
Permissions issue.
