After reformatting my hard drive and doing a complete reinstall, I am
experiencing the same problem as Ron. What confuses me is prior to
installing SPII, NEF files and PSD files would display thumbnails. Why would
XP SPII cause Windows to no longer recognize files that were "known files"
prior to the Service Pack?
NEF files are Nikon digital image files and converting these files to PSD or
some other graphics file would increase my storage requirements significantly
(due to keeping the original NEF), not to mention the extra work of
converting hundreds and hundreds of files. The original NEF file is needed
when viewing and/or editing images with Nikon software. The reason I would
like to see the thumbnails is to help me quickly locate images using Explorer.
I feel certain other Nikon people must be feeling the same pain from losing
(or misplacing) this valuable file view option. I'm hoping the fix is simply
changing a display option somewhere. All I need is help finding that option.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be eternally grateful.
Thanks!
