Windows XP Download for Service Pack 2 failure--Help?

Hi all. I am a newbie to all of this and I hope that someone can help me.

Yesterday I had to totally reinstall Windows XP in my Dell Dimension 4550
Desktop computer because of a blue screen error.

After doing all this and having to install all the updates, the last update
to install was the Service Pack 2.

It downloaded and was trying to install when it froze. The following error
appeared:

0x87FF0004

Now in my most recent update list the service pack 2 is listed but failed.

How do I reinstall this again?

This error code means

Error_Too_Many_Open_Files, The system can not open the file

Perhaps you have a corrupt download of sp2, try again with the full package
