Hi Dave,
Suggestion1 : Reinstall the update in Safe Mode
My suggestion is to log on the computer in Safe Mode and install the update.
a. Restart the computer.
b. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
c. Choose Safe Mode, and press Enter.
d. Run the computer in Safe Mode for some time to see if the issue still
exists.
Note: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform
differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. Install the
downloaded package of the update.
Suggestion 2: Disable the antivirus software to install the update package.
This error can be can be triggered by Antivirus software. You may want to
verify your anti software is updated recently, also search for
spyware/adware, and reinstall the update your from the windowsupdate site.
Thanks,
Allenh [MSFT]
