Hi callmee,
Okay, if that didn't work, then do this:
Uninstall Windows Live Messenger and reboot.
Now, download and install TuneUp Utilities 2007 from
http://www.tune-up.com .The program comes with a 30-day Trial.
Now using Explore, go to your \Temp Folders and remove and delete, all
files and sub-folders of your \Temp Folders, currently not in use. When
done, run Disk Cleanup and reboot.
On reboot, run TuneUp's Registry Cleaner, until you have zero errors.,
then reboot.
Now reinstall Windows Live Messenger with Anti-Virus Background Scanning
off. Reboot and test.
