I have a problem with Norton 6 and have been asked by the support desk to
Uninstalling the conflicting Microsoft patch in Windows XP Hotfix 818529 , I
can not find it on my list of programs under the control panel. Does this
patch go by another name?

Do you have "Show Updates" checked?

Thanks I do.

I was hoping the hotfix may go by another name.

the error I get with Norton is :

An error has occurred on script onthis page,
res://C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec
Shared\AntiSpam\asRes.LOC/nasstatus.htm

818529 was a cumulative security update for Internet Explorer, released
three years ago. It has since been superseded by many other iterations of
cumulative update for Internet Explorer. 818529 cannot now be uninstalled.
Only the latest cumulative security update for Internet Explorer can be
uninstalled: but to uninstall the cumulative security uipdate for IE would
leave you with an entirely insecure IE, which is suicidal.

You should uninstall Norton. You cannot seriously persevere with a
third-party product which became incompatible with Windows three years ago.
