Ever since my last successful use of the windows update site about 2 months
ago, windows locks up whenever I try to use the windows update site.

I'm behind a hardware firewall, and I don't download anything on this
machine. All the users of the machine (wife and kid and myself) use
non-admin accounts so I don't think a virus is the issue.

The machine is a Athlon 1600 with mirrored 120 Gig Western digital drives
and a GeForce 2 graphics card.

Other than the crashes while trying to use the Windows update site it seems
to be working fine. I checked all the running threads and they all look
legit. I don't have very many services running by default, but before
running windows update I reboot using a hardware profile that includes all
the standard services.

Thanks in advance for any help you can me. This has me pretty frustrated.
About ready to convert all my computers to Linux! :-)

The same thing is happening here. It is well published that this batch of
updates is buggy. Check it out.

Does anyone know which update is doing it. Ill uninstall it to see if it
helps. Uninstalling KB911567 corrected an Outlook Express issue. Now when
Internet Explorer crashes on the Microsoft site the error reporting window
gives this information.

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: jscript.dll
ModVer: 5.6.0.8820 Offset: 0001be5f

It appears that my Win Update site problem explained here is not caused by
the current batch of
windos updates.

I also use Firefox which has add ons for viewing certain pages. I remember
applying one, maybe Quicktime or Java. Since I restored to an earlier time
that did not have the Firefox add on, but does have the Windows Updated, the
problem has been resolved so it isn't a Windows update problem.
