Hi,

I have some Windows XP desktops which never joined the Active Directory
Domain before.
I would like to have them join to the AD Domain, but if they join to the
domain and after the first logon, the Desktop items will be changed, and
also there're some application will lost their link.
How do I fix this problem?
Thanks for help.

Jason

Hello Jason,

What you see is normal, in a domain the local user account isn't used normally
anymore, so when logging on with a domain user account you have a new profile
stored under documents and settings folder. The new logged on user have to
re-create the shortcuts. FOr applications it is important that you have installed
them for all users and not only for the current one, lot's of applicaitons
do it that way if you don't choose the all users way during installation.

Best regards

Copy the local profile of the user to the domain user profile. When the
user now logs in, my guess is the domain account is used and for that,
Windows creates a brand new profile on the machine. You'll have to copy
the shortcuts and stuff over.

Cheers,
Florian
